CYNTHIA JIMENEZ-HICKS

Cynthia (she/her) is a Filipino-Canadian theatre artist from Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton). After graduating the acting program at The National Theatre School of Canada, Cynthia has spent much of her career on new Canadian play development with companies such as: Stratford Festival, Citadel, fu-GEN Asian Canadian Theatre, Studio 180, Tarragon, Factory, Nightwood, Bad Hats, and Shakespeare in the Ruff. Performing credits include: The Candidate, The Party, A Christmas Carol (Citadel Theatre), This London Life (Grand Theatre), Girls Like That (Tarragon Theatre), Boys Girls and Other Mythological Creatures (Carousel Players), Barbelle Series (KindaTV), Hudson & Rex (CityTV). At the start of 2020 before Covid-19, Cynthia had begun rehearsals for her Stratford Festival debut playing Wendy in Wendy and Peter Pan. Teaching credits include movement at Artstrek, and most recently choreographing Into the Woods at MacEwan University. Cynthia is currently facilitating the Paprika Festival’s TD Creators’ Unit program. Tune to A is Cynthia’s new play co-created with Carly Neis and Cameron Kneteman.
