    Translator of Bakkhai.

    Anne Carson is a poet, essayist, translator, playwright and classicist. Her translation of Sophokles' Antigone recently received its world première at Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg/Barbican, London, starring Juliette Binoche and directed by Ivo van Hove; her new translation of Euripides' The Bakkhai, directed by James Macdonald and starring Ben Whishaw, recently premièred at the Almeida Theatre in London. Classic Stage Company in New York has produced Anne's An Orchestra (a trilogy adapted from Aeschylus' Agamemnon, Sophokles' Electra, and Euripides' Orestes) in repertory. Her latest book, Float, was published in 2016. Other works include Autobiography of Red; Red Doc; Antigonick; Nox; If Not, Winter:  Fragments of Sappho (translation); The Beauty of the Husband; Men in the Off Hours; Economy of the Unlost; Plainwater: Essays and Poetry; Glass, Irony and God; Eros the Bittersweet: An Essay; Decreation: Poetry, Essays, Opera; and Grief Lessons: Four Plays by Euripides (translation).     Intimacy Choreographer
    2017: Intimacy choreographer of Bakkhai. Stratford debut. Elsewhere: She is the Artistic Director of Reduxion Theatre Company in Oklahoma City, and an international Intimacy for the Stage workshop teacher and choreographer. Tonia is the founder of Intimacy Directors International, whose goal is to make the theatre industry safer and more professional when handling scenes containing sexual content. Tonia is also a rare and chronic disease patient advocate and national motivational speaker.     Ann Stuart
    Assistant Stage Manager
    2017: Stage manager of Twelfth Night and assistant stage manager of Bakkhai. 36th season. Stratford: Ann has worked in all four of the Festival's theatres on over 70 productions, including 29 of Shakespeare's plays, with Artistic Directors Michael Langham, Robin Phillips, John Neville, David William, Richard Monette and Antoni Cimolino. This is her eighth collaboration with Martha Henry whose acclaimed production of All My Sons she stage managed last season. From 2007 till 2016 she was coordinator of the Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre under Director Martha Henry. From 1978 till 1980 she worked as personal assistant to Artistic Director Robin Phillips and in 2013 she stage managed Robin's final work for the theatre, a showing of Twelfth Night with the Birmingham Conservatory. This is for him and for his partner Joseph Mandel.

Stratford: Last season Janine was production stage manager of the Tom Patterson Theatre and also stage-managed John Gabriel Borkman. Past credits include stage manager of a variety of productions at the Festival, Tom Patterson and Avon theatres and the Masonic Hall. Elsewhere: Janine has stage-managed for Talk Is Free Theatre, Barrie. She stage-managed Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore and production-managed for Singapore Repertory Theatre. She has worked on the Asian Games' ceremonies in Qatar; in various theatres in Ontario, including Young People's Theatre; and for CBC TV in Toronto and BBC TV in England.
