FREEDOM: THE HISTORY OF BLACK MUSIC

VIRTUAL
Wednesday, October 13, 2021

The influence of music by Black people in the world cannot be understated. From jazz to country-and-western music, classical to hip hop, rock and roll to gospel, Black music has defined the last century and beyond. Picking up from where the Freedom cabaret leaves off, this panel takes its own deep dive into the history of Black music. Freedom curator, director, music director and performer Beau Dixon hosts with guests A. Harmony (host of Marvin's Room on CBC Radio) and April Grier (Afromusicologist at Rutgers University).
