Mission Statement
The Langham Directors’ Workshop seeks the most promising directing talent and provides them with fertile ground to explore, play, and hone their craft. The Workshop endeavors to help cultivate the directors’ interests, refine their aesthetics, and enable them in creating inspired and boundary-pushing work – not only for the Stratford Festival’s stages, but across the globe.
The Program in Brief
We are committed to finding directors working in all types of theatre who wish to share their knowledge and skills. We offer emerging and mid-career directors the opportunity to work on innovative Shakespeare and classical works, birthing new plays with Canada's finest playwrights, helming large-scale productions within in a large institution. We hope to provide mentorship opportunities, grow networks, hone artistic skills and provide space for authentic creative exploration. Participants will work as Assistant Directors on a production. They will participate in various Labs learning about the Festival and also curated specifically to add to their directorial "toolkit." Finally, they will complete the Directors' Workshop Presentation (DWP) in November, where directors choose and direct a scene/project that best represents their aesthetic.
Esther Jun is the workshop Director and Natasha Sinclair is the Assistant Producer.
