Boots and Shoes

Boots and Shoes is located in the back hallway on the lower level of the Festival Theatre. It is next door to Millinery.

The Boots and Shoes department at the Festival is made up of three to five shoemakers each season depending on the requirements of the year. They are responsible for all of the footwear required for each show, as well as other leatherwork such as gaiters and spats. They also provide belts and weapon holders such as gun holsters and sword belts. They work closely with the costume designer for each individual show to decide what footwear is needed for each actor. From there they pull any shoes they can from the stock at the warehouse and assist with purchasing anything that needs to be bought. Sometimes there are specific needs of a design that should be built from scratch. Starting with a design and an actor’s measurements, they create footwear to make the designer’s vision come to life and make the actor as comfortable as possible.

If actors have any special requirements for their shoes, whether it be for onstage action or a problem with their feet, be sure to let Boots and Shoes know as early as possible. They will do everything they can to make actors comfortable and to make the shoes do everything that they need to do!

Actors may be called to this room to try on some shoes. Those calls will be in Arden
