Planning changeovers at the Festival is key to the smooth running of repertory theatre. Often a large physical element of the changeover is how one set will be removed and another added to the stage. This happens at the same time as the lighting, props, sound, wardrobe and wigs are changed or maintained too. All of this needs to be planned and discussed carefully through the design and build processes. To say the changeover is a busy time is an understatement as all the many elements of two shows are cared for and trade places. A crew of up to 30 from the stage, lighting, sound, props, wardrobe and wigs & make-up areas will work just before or just after a performance to change from one show to the other. During this time the stage, back stage halls and/or auditorium are inaccessible due to health and safety reasons.
